Starting point
The Moro Against Racial Injustice Alliance Movement (MARIAM) Inc. was founded and led by Master Sergeant Zainab Tando P.A. (Retired). She is a former military officer and a United Nations Peacekeeper who serves as its founding president. The organisation is deeply committed to promoting diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging (DIEB), with a strong focus on women’s rights.
Peace Journey
Since its establishment, MARIAM has been an active collaborator and partner of various civil society organisations, non-governmental organisations, the academe, and community leaders in national and regional consultations, research initiatives, activities, and programmes aligned with their mission and goals for women and marginalised groups.
Success Stories
MARIAM had actively engaged with Salam Pilipinas through their community Peace Caravans, addressing women’s issues and providing medical support for women and their children. It has also been invited to present its advocacy campaign, Amplify Voices of Women Against Violence, Injustice, and Racial Discrimination, at several local government units and forums, including the city government of Davao and the National Defence College of the Philippines.
