Starting Point

Nila Aye was involved in the Internal Peace Building and also acted as a mediator for those returning to the legal fold from opponents of the present authority. She believed that it is the responsibility of every citizen to act; the difference lies only in whether one can act upon the circumstances or not. A nation can only develop and prosper when there is peace, stability and collective efforts. Her role model is Margaret Thatcher.

Peace Journey

She played a mediating role in the peace process. Although there was no initial intention to engage in the peace process, Nila Aye became involved in assisting people in need. Through negotiations with the military and other organizations, she helped individuals who wanted to leave the armed groups. She also contributed to peacebuilding efforts, provided counselling for those struggling with mental health issues, and served as a liaison officer.

Success Stories

Her efforts related to peacebuilding have been successfully accomplished as expected. Through negotiations with the military and other organizations, she helped individuals who wanted to leave the armed groups. She intends to continue this work in future as well.

Despite being a woman, she went to the dangerous places under life-threatening circumstances. The chances of women participating in peace process are still slim. Women should be encouraged to work on their achieved skills and expertise rather than practising discrimination based on different ones.
